NEET UG Preparation Strategy: A Practical 6-Month Plan
NEET UG decides your seat in MBBS, BDS and other medical courses, and a structured plan makes a big difference. Here is a practical six-month approach.
Months 1-2: Build the base. Finish NCERT Biology line by line - Biology carries the highest share of marks (Botany and Zoology). Cover Physics and Chemistry fundamentals with basic numericals.
Months 3-4: Practise and strengthen. Solve topic-wise MCQs after every chapter. Keep a notebook of formulas, reactions and tricky facts. Start timed Physics practice because it needs speed and accuracy.
Month 5: Revise and test. Attempt full-length mock tests every week in exam timing (3 hours 20 minutes). Analyse every wrong answer and write down the reason - concept gap, calculation error or silly mistake.
Month 6: Final polish. Revise NCERT diagrams, tables and summaries. Focus on high-weightage chapters and your weak areas. Do not start new topics in the last two weeks.
Important tips
- NEET has negative marking, so avoid blind guessing.
- Sleep well, eat on time and keep a fixed routine; consistency beats long irregular study hours.
- Read the official NTA bulletin carefully for syllabus, eligibility and exam-day rules.
After the exam, register for MCC and state counselling. Keep your documents ready - Class 10 and 12 marksheets, category certificate (if applicable), ID proof and photographs.
This plan is a guide; adjust it to your starting level and school schedule. Talk to our counsellors if you need help with college selection after NEET.
